Hi, I’m Jessica!

Most enjoyable things in my life are entwined with storytelling, whether that be finding new books to read (or revisiting my favorite comfort reads, like any and every story by Naomi Novik) or developing fantastical realms for my D&D group. I got my start in editing through fanfiction, where I served as a beta reader in various fandoms. I still enjoy the world of fanfiction, but spend more time on original works these days. My two longest lasting loves are fantasy and science fiction (particularly stories with strong romantic/lgbtq+ elements), though I also enjoy contemporary romance, general fiction, and manga.

Outside of reading, writing, and editing, I spend an inordinate amount of time playing D&D (yes, I am a forever DM) and catching up on Critical Role. Bonus fun fact: my partner and I were working in the same Barnes & Noble once upon a time (I was a bookseller, they were the cafe manager, and yes, we were living out our cozy coffee shop AU in real life), and we got to know each other through a Dungeons & Dragons group started among the employees.

I also get a lot of joy from gaming, with a preference for story-based games. I just recently achieved all possible epilogues in Long Live the Queen, which was so fun to try for!

These days much of my time goes into the little homestead my partner and I started almost a year ago. I’ve discovered a surprising love for chickens and for coming up with bizarre names for all our critters.
